Usual disclaimer: I wouldn’t normally include kid’s books in a ‘what I am reading list’, but I am reading these aloud to my son – if it takes me more than 2 nights to read through out loud, its enough book to include here.
We’ve been delayed in reading this as I had to convince him in the first place, and then we have stopped to read his christmas books, but we did eventually get back to it – now it is one if his ‘please, please, please can I have a second chapter??’ books.
Aleks is really enjoying this. There’s the odd spot where I have to skip over sexual references – not that it is excessive, its just that I don’t really want to have to stop for that level of explanation mid-story.
Having read this before, more than once, I already knew it would be a good read.
It is a little old for Aleks, at 7, so a little editing is needed, but I’m sure by the time he is 11 or 12 and able to read it himself he will rip through it.
