This is the 3rd book in Lackey’s prequel series about elves – I haven’t read the ‘later’ series, but I am confused why I don’t have reviews of Books 1 and 2 here – I have certainly read them! Perhaps it was just before I started this site a year ago? Doesn’t seem that long ago!
Anyway – this is a good series. If you enjoy ‘might have been’ histories, this is a great account of how Elizabeth I came to the throne… with a little bit of help from the Sidhe.
Book 3 covers Elizabeth’s teen years, while her brother Edward is on the throne.
Again we see Vidal Dhu as the ultimate villain, an evil sidhe who is working to bring in the reign of ‘Bloody Mary’, in order to revel in the pain and suffering caused. Our hero is still Denoriel, but the development of his half siblings, as they slowly come to the understanding that they can and should return to the Bright realm… its delightful.
