I’m re-reading Cherryh’s class Chanur Saga.

High level overview: a sophisticated space going society of several very different races, held together by The Compact. But something new has entered the scene – when the Chanur ship sits a dock, something runs up the gangway. Its tall, gangly, mostly hairless and running from one of the less scruplous races. Now the race is on to see who can get First Contact with these… humans…

I love Cherryh’s writing style. I’ll write a fuller review when I have finished it.

Pride and Prejudice

I recently got an ipad – one of the obvious things to do was hit Gutenberg and download all my out-of-copyright favourites, so I am now the proud owner of a virtual Jane Austen collection (to nicely match the one on the shelf).
So, I am happily rereading Pride and Prejudice, to start with (because I can!)
I have been interrupted by a whole bunch of paper books that have arrived, but I shall return to this.
My plan is to spend some time reading through a whole bunch of freebies, including the Baen Free Library, on my very attractive ipad (tip: you can read under the covers when its cold – no more frosty hands when I turn the lights out!)
